Fran West Driveabout to the old Adelaide Gaol

If you're visiting Adelaide, South Australia, an interesting place to visit is the old Adelaide Gaol (not in use as a prison any more).

My Canadian visitors loved the place.

It's special for me because I took my elderly mum back there for the first time since she lived there during her girlhood. My grandfather, who died before I was born, was a warder at the gaol and Mum used to take him his evening meal. Obviously she never actually went into the gaol with the prisoners, so it was a real eye opener when we visited.

Mum has often said that people had seen the ghost of a man tending the veggie patch outside the prison walls.
